What I did
web design
The project
Nourish Scotland is a charity focusing on food policy and practice. They work for a fair, healthy and sustainable food system that values nature and people. One of their key initiatives is the Dignity in Practice project, which helps to embed ‘dignity’ in organisations, communities and projects addressing food insecurity.
The project’s resources were buried in the Nourish Scotland website. My task was to create a new, dedicated website for the Dignity in Practice project, ensuring that the resources were easily accessible, easy to find, and easy to read.
The biggest design challenge was organising their extensive content in a clear and understandable manner. As an external consultant, I brought an objective perspective, helping them rethink and reorganise their content to make it more accessible and user-friendly. I then designed a clean, clear website, with large, easy to read text and managed the building of the site in collaboration with my colleague, Mike Harrison.
Testimony
“Mark always brought the design back to the user-experience, helping us maintain our goal. Our new website will help us better communicate with the people that we work with including people with experience of food insecurity, community projects, other charities, funders and local and national government.” — Diana Garduño Jiménez, Senior Food Justice Officer
